There actually is an easier way. IBM Information Network operates a gateway from VNET to the Internet (VNET is what most people call PROFS, although that's somewhat akin to calling mailx/mail/elm/whatever the Internet). Your father should be able to register with IIN, either using EFAS, or by getting a form called "INTERNET REGISTER" (electronically) and submitting it to his manager (unless he is a manager, in which case he can submit it directly). If he can't find that form, have him send me a note (DEJARNET@AUSVMQ) and I'll mail it to him. Please, don't everyone that has friends/relatives/whatever in IBM send me notes.
