You may be right. The pre SCSI MACs had their battery door replaced with battery doors that had SCSI conneter slots when third party controllers were added. This leads me to beleive that it was left "loose" for a reason. There are now 3rd party cards that go into this "memory card" (only?) slot. They include: Memory only. (ala Apple's card) Memory and a proprietary (sp?) expansion slot. With promises of Ethernet, external display, and 68030 cards for the expansion slot on the memory card. 68030 cards. The "fact" that the memory card slot can only be used for memory cards seems to exist only in Apple's mind. I think that it is a ploy to keep selling the Se's that are languishing on dealer's shelves. In the U.S. you can buy a Classic for $900.00, add in a thrid party 68030 for about $700, 3 meg (more) of ram of $150, and a 40 meg SCSI disk for about $300. For about $2000.00 you get the equivalent of an Se30 4/40. I expect that the price will stabilize (when supply meets demand) at $700-800 for the bare Classic and about $400 for the 68030 card. What will this do the 2nd hand Se/Se30 market? -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Geoffrey S.
