Hi

Several years ago I came up against the problem of converting MSWORD formatted
documents to LaTex format.

I came up with a simple solution: simply print the MSWORD document out to
a file using a simple printer driver such as those supporting Epson printers.
Then use the printer codes inserted into the file as a handle to translation
to LaTex.  I wrote a barebones Turbo Pascal program to do this.

My translator was primarily designed to cope with the host of italics, bolded
text, superscripts, subscripts, IBM PC hiascii characters I use in my
documents, plus it does handle headings to a degree.  The program is
sufficiently flexible to be expandedto cope with other needs.  It is also
quite fast.  It worked for me and was a time saver ( I was assembling a
large Microbiology manual at the time).
