I am considering extending Common TeX to use XDR.
Two questions i have are:

1. Would previewers and editors benefit from a TeX server
returning page/paragraph info in TeX structures.
For example, shipout could use XDR as well as DVI formats.

2. To be useful as a file format, i have to deal with
symbol->tokenlist networks. Can this be done with XDR?
I assume i would have to handle this specially.
