Considering the timing of when this whole discussion started, and the
revelation that Release 4 does not have the problem, perhaps this is
the vendors' collectinve way of getting us all to upgrade to R4.

(Except for SCO, of course. Heaven forbid *they'd* want anyone to
upgrade to R4 ;-).
