The original poster didn't say which machine he was using, but I assumed it was acting the same way our VS2000's do. The color version uses the F1 key for "hold screen" even in single-user mode, and there doesn't appear to be a way to get around that EVEN USING twm, which is the window manager I use. It only seems to be this way on the color version of the 2000 - the monochrome machine that we have exhibits no such behaviour. Brian Smith -- Brian V.
