Q 1) How can I display 2, 16 & 256 Grey level images on a 8 plane screen ? Q 2) If I change the XImage structure values bit_order and byte_order the XPutImage does not behave according to the new values. why ? Q 3) How does the X-Call XCreatePixmapFromBitmapData work ? Unfortunately I do not have the sources. A 1) My answer to the 1st Q is for 2 Grey Level Image : use XCreateBitmapFromData and XCopyPlane. for 256 Grey Level Image : use XCreateImage and XPutImage. for 16 Grey Level Image : ?????????? Infact the solution suggested above may not be the best. Could you help me in displaying 16 Grey Level Image on a 8 plane screen Chittaranjan =================================================================== Name : Chittaranjan Keswani Sietec, West Berlin Address : ch@sietec.sietec.de (Internet) ..!sietec1!sietec!ch@unido.uucp (UUCP) ===================================================================
