The technical level of most of the construction articles is somewhere between Radio Electronics Magazine and a BSEE. They are at (215)630-1914. The article in question, Feb/Mar issue 19, pg.22, 'A PC Stopwatch', details a software controlled stopwatch which one could use to measure run times of program segments as well as other things I suppose. I just took the left half of their schematic ( the bus interface/address decode section ) and spliced my DTMF decoder to it. Now that I look at it, the interface is pretty simple, I'd just never 'hacked' one before. The board ran all weekend time/date stamping DTMF transmissions over the local police channels and worked well. ( NO the goal is not to record numbers dialed on cordless phones, though the board will work well in that application, this is a telemetry project). Someday my sysadm will decide this is a 'real' problem. :-) .....................................................................
