Have you considered the possibility of a faulty printer port on the Kaypro?
I don't know anything about your two printers, unfortunately, but I've just
recently attached a printer to my Kaypro and it seems to work okay.
My printer was previously attached to an IBM-compatible, and I didn't have to
change any setups at all. So, I suggest you try your printers on an IBM
and see if they do the same thing.
