This position involves the design and implementation and support of software for use in pharmaceutical and biochemical research. You would be working together rather closely with Graduate students, post docs and professors. The Department of Pharm. Chem and the associated Computer Graphics Laboratory have a strong performance record in biochemical modeling and research (Ferrin, Huang, Jarvis, Langridge, J. Mol. Graphics (6) pp. 13-37; Kuntz, Blaney, Oatley, Langridge, Ferrin, J. Mol. Biol. 1982; Singh, Weiner, Caldwell, Kollman, AMBER 3.0 - 1987; Cohen, Abarbanel, Kuntz, Fletterick, Biochemistry 1983) Some of the tasks will include: - General software maintenance, optimization and documentation. - Design, implementation and maintenance of graphical user interfaces for structure modeling tools. Successful candidates must: - have a strong knowledge of the UNIX and VMS operating systems - enough to know the differences required in maintaining code. - know the languages Fortran, C, and Postscript. - have had experience with two or more of the following windowing paradigms: X11, NeWS, SGI's GL. - work independently, but in cooperation with biochemical scientists.
