Reposted-by: emv@ox.com (Edward Vielmetti) The patches available via anonymous ftp to fresnel.stanford.edu should be sufficient for compiling the client side of MIT's XV11R4 distribution under IRIX 3.3.1. pub/4DX/README.patches info on patches pub/4DX/4DX-patch1 for IRIX 3.2 pub/4DX/4DX-patch2 & 4DX-patch3 for IRIX 3.3.1 Also, I've been told that some packages (KHOROS, Dirt UI, others?) require toolkit mods present in MIT fixes 15-18. Hence, the libraries and include files on fresnel are now at MIT patchlevel 18. FAQ: Only the clients & libraries can be compiled from the MIT distribution, not the server. You still need the X server from the IRIX distribution tapes. Unless you want to muck around with the source code, you would probably be better off using the clients on the IRIX distribution tapes, since these clients use shared libraries. Neither the libraries provided with 3.3.1 nor the patched MIT distribution allows the use of a shared libX11. No guarantees.
