If anyone is looking for a NS16550AFN, a real one, I just received my order
from Fry's electronics.  Their mail order number is 415/496-6100, ask for
'components' and just tell the salesperson you want to mail order a part.
 
The chip was $12.99 and Ups 2 Day Shipping <Blue Label to NC> was $7.15 <so
I'm a little impatient, ok>.  The street address is Fry's Electronics,
340 Portage Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94306...
