Ege) Newsgroups: comp.dcom.modems Subject: How to connect a v32 modem to Sun ? Summary: Intel 9600ex and Sun Keywords: Inetl 9600ex v32 Sun baud rate Message-ID: <2590@kluge.fiu.edu> Date: 23 Feb 91 16:36:34 GMT Sender: news@kluge.fiu.edu Organization: Florida International University, Miami Lines: 20 My question is about how to setup and connect a Intel 9600ex v.32 modem to a Sun workstation (SunOS 4.1.1). The Sun has a modem connected to it for some time already (at 1200 Baud). I looked in files such as "/etc/remote" and "/etc/ttytab" and it seems that the rate specified there reflects the modem transmission speed. For the new modem, I am specifically concerned about the line speed from the Sun to the modem. In order to get better throughput from data compression, I assume that the line speed should be fairly high ( >> 9600). Where can I set it, if I want to use the modem both to originate and receive calls with data compression. Any help is appreciated. -- Raimund K.
