Because initialization takes about 20 minutes over a phone link, I would be crushed if my modems dropped the line often, so I'm looking for a Mean Time Between Hang-ups of at least ten days. Past experience indicates the line is fairly clean (I've held a 2400 bps connection for over a week). Does anyone have any recommendations for which v.32 modems hold their link most reliably and which don't? Is v.32bis more reliable? I think asynchronous protocols are out of the question, because of the nature of X-terminal connections. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, David Elliston
