the version of PASCAL that i'm using is VAX pascal V4.1-33.  i was just
referring to standard pascal, though.  I do have Turbo Pascal 5.0 but i don't
plan on using it now for this project for lack of space.

Oh does anyone know if there is a maximum number of variables standard Pascal   
can handle?  I'm using 136 different variables.
