The original nroff sources are copyright AT&T and are not freely redistributable. However, I believe the Free Software Foundation distributes a version of nroff et al, although it may be written in C++ (I forget). Furthermore, I bleieve someone has posted a version of "nroff -man" written in awk, although I can't find it on any of the archive sites, and I doubt it's going to do you much good :-). If you're really curious, you can telnet to quiche.cs.mcgill.ca, log in as archie, and run "prog roff" when you get a prompt. You might want to run a script command before doing this, though, because you're going to get a lot of output, and you're going to want to save it to go through later to find out what's really useful to you. As for kermit, the official archive site is (I believe) watsun.cc.columbia.edu. Once again, you can find archive sites by logging into archie -- do "prog kermit". I got sources to a set of programs that do xmodem, ymodem and zmodem from the pd3: directory on wsmr-simtel20.army.mil. Once again, however, you can find other archive sites by asking archie -- "prog zmodem" produces quite a few listings for me. BTW, requests like this probably belong in comp.sources.wanted more than they belong in comp.misc. I've directed followups there. -- Jonathan Kamens USnail: MIT Project Athena 11 Ashford Terrace jik@Athena.MIT.EDU Allston, MA 02134 Office: 617-253-8085 Home: 617-782-0710 Brought to you by Super Global Mega Corp .com
