DTS and NTP are indeed NOT one in the same.  While both claim to do time
synchronization, DTS was designed with very different design goals and
assumptions, especially concerning accuracy, availability of high-stratum
clocks, breadth of the served networks, and response to net pathologies.

DTS was recently selected by the Open Software Foundation for their
Distributed Computing offering.
