I am taking an introductory robotics class here at NCSU, and for a group project we have three tasks. Our robot is designed around a VME bus interface system, and the first two tasks are to implement a rudimentary voice sythesis and recognition system. The third task involves designing a 2400-Baud cordless(Radio) modem so that the operator does not have to follow the robot around to enter commands. Presently, there are null modem lines connecting the command terminals to the bus, and we are simply replacing these with a cordless line. We have found several chipsets to do all of these tasks, so I am really just asking if anyone has had excellent succes with any particular company or configuration. Also, I am a little confused as to whether we need a modem(acoustic) signal to modulate using a transmitter or whether we can just modulate the serial signal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please reply with e-mail if possible. Thanks, Bill Kiether William J Kiether North Carolina State University e-mail: wjk@ecesting.ncsu.edu Brought to you by Super Global Mega Corp .com
