How about some hard facts about those >oh-so-suffering X users for a change? I made a very simple comment on a very simple point. I will restate it so that you can see that I am not an "fsfnoid" of any type. I am not claiming that my argument is true for everyone. I am saying that it's true for some people. The claim was, essentially, that "PD status is always better than GPL status. Everyone can see this." I gave an example where, for *some* people, this isn't true. I won't repeat it because I'm sure you recall it. I didn't say it was true for everyone, nor that it was true for you. I don't need to present hard facts, because it was a hypothetical situation. That's all one needs to say "no, it's not *always* true that PD is better than GPL." Now, whether or not X would have become popular if it was GPLed has NOTHING to do with this line of argument. And that's why I asked Nazgul to respond to what I wrote, not what he wanted to argue against. There are arguments to be made for making things PD, and I know what they are, and I like some of them. However, I don't think it's *always* true that those arguments win. Different people have different criteria, and you aren't everyone. Is this clear yet, or is someone else going to step up and gleefully read more things into my postings?
