Not wanting to backup the whole thing to discs and reformat, I managed to remove the broken directories and the corrupted files. But when I removed the directories, the free space map on the disc was not changed, and now the filer thinks that portions of the disc are used, which in fact are not. *CheckMap says: Dir tree inconsistent with free space map, but will do nothing to remedy it. Does anyone have a program that will scan the directory tree on a hard disc and fix the free space map to fit? Would you please mail it to me. Thanks. ...Oddvar Kloster
