Message-ID: Date: 21 Feb 91 17:02:03 GMT Sender: usenet@agate.berkeley.edu (USENET Administrator) Organization: Postcarcinogenic Bliss, Inc. Lines: 23 I have a Quantum 105 megabyte hard drive hooked up to a Microbotics StarDrive controller on an Amiga 1000. I've had it for about half a year, and it has worked fine since I hooked it up. However, because of the particular mounting brackets/LED I purchased (separately), the LED isn't hooked up (the connector doesn't fit the LED output on the Quantum). This isn't ordinarily a problem (but if anyone knows where I could get an LED that fits, please let me know). Occasionally the Quantum emits a brief burst of seeking noises even when the Amiga isn't accessing the drive; I know this is normal. However, recently it's started making seeking noises continuously, whether or not the drive is being accessed. It doesn't seem to affect disk accesses--I've had no read/write errors, and I seem to be getting about the same throughput. Since I don't have the LED hooked up, I don't know whether my controller or the drive is responsible. Has anyone experienced similar behavior? Please respond by email. If I get any useful responses, I'll summarize. Thanks. -- nj nj@teak.Berkeley.EDU ...!ucbvax!teak!nj
