Keywords: Huh? Organization: University of Toronto Distribution: na Date: 27 Feb 91 02:36:20 GMT Lines: 35 I'm having a strange problem with a 2nd hard drive I installed on my A3000. When I power up (cold boot), I never encounter a problem. However, when I reboot (warm boot with C-A-A), every _2nd_ time, the drive doesn't auto-mount! Here's the pattern: POWER-ON dh2: mounts reboot no dh2: reboot dh2: mounts reboot no dh2: reboot dh2: mounts ... Specifics: I have KS 36.207, WB 36.68, on an A3000-25/50. The hard drive is a 90MB MAXTOR LXT100S. The MAXTOR is the last device on the SCSI bus, so I left the termination resistors in place and removed them from the 50MB Quantum. I used HDToolBox to tell the system that the device doesn't support reselection (even though it really does), and I changed the setting for the 50MB Quantum to turn off reselection (it was on). I never encountered this problem when the MAXTOR was on my A2000 (old GVP controller with 40MB Quantum as 2nd device). I haven't tried technical support yet, I thought I'd check the net for similar experiences. BTW, the drive works just fine when it auto-mounts (but I only get 450KB/s with Diskspeed 3.1). If anybody has any suggestion, please reply! Many thanks in advance! Marcel A. LeBlanc -- Electrical Eng.
