I had upgraded my A to a B and didn't need the adapter anymore. So I had a DEC field engineer attempt to upgrade the board. Needless to say, it didn't work. In fact, the 'bow wouldn't even boot. I finally bought the 8087 board. Of course, we weren't working with _any_ scematics. Once I bought the 8087 board, I noticed all kinds of differences. About three years ago, someone called me regarding the upgrade of a memory adapter board to an 8087 board. I even took the 8087 board out of my system and photocopied the board for him so he could see what chips were used. I never heard from him again, so I'm assuming that his experiment failed.
