So far I've accomplished this: - installed modem using mksf, lssf and editing /etc/inittab - modem is in /dev/tty1p1, C-Kermit connects OK - dialing from outside into the system works like a charm Problem: Cannot dial out of the system with Kermit. Kermit says timeout to place call is 41 seconds, but after setting line, speed, and modem and dialing, after approximately four seconds it times out and complains it couldn't place the call. The modem is a 2400 bps Hayes-compatible. I also tried setting the S13 register value to something else than default 45 sec, but Kermit doesn't recognize it. As far as I know, this feature is not Kermit-configurable. For the time being, I have to use an inconvenient kludge, that is, to connect to the modem and hand-dial using ATDT. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong etc.? BTW, never been in this newsgroup before, so sorry if somebody covered this just last week or somesuch :-) -jere -- ######################################################################### # Jere K{pyaho # They say that travel broadens the mind # # Dept.
