Yes, you can use any serial mouse with a 25-pin connector.  The PS/2's
also have a special mouse port next to the keyboard port.  Using this
port will keep your only serial port free to do useful things like
communicate with these newsgroups :-).  If no need for her serial port,
use it.  The mouse itself may come with a PS/2 adapter to use the
dedicated mouse port.
