MacLayers is a MultiWindow terminal emulator for BSD UNIX, somewhat like uw. It supports up to 7 windows, one of which can be used for background downloading. It also has text scrollback, and lots of other nice things. It uses the serial ports-- no comm toolbox. It lacks uploading and, due to a bug, requires that you use 8 bit communications. It's freeware. The latest version is 1.0. It is not clear when a new version will come out. Anonymous ftp site rascal.ics.utexas.edu (128.83.138.20) is the primary source. Anonymous ftp is supposed to work, obviously. Try again. MacLayers is also in the sumex-aim.stanford.edu archives. ---- Peter Newton Computer Sciences, TAY 2.124 (512) 471-9735 University of Texas at Austin newton@cs.utexas.edu Austin, TX 78712-1188 ...{uunet|gatech|ames}!cs.utexas.edu!newton
