Here is a partial list of what was added and fixed to the driver the README file has more details): Fixed a problem in printing from DAs such as Canvas. Fixed a Super Laser Spool crash when printing multiple copies of a document containing a bitmap. Zero width characters (such as Sonata fonts) will now show up on the page. NIL-Handle heap corruption bug was fixed. There was an AppleTalk Zone communication problem with EtherTalk connections. Low level text call support (such as text streaming) was added. So I think the above list indicates you really will want to get the latest drivers. The drivers also a bit smaller than the previous versions. By the way, I have been getting a fair amount of mail concerning DeskWriter questions, and I just want to let people know that I am really an R&D engineer (I write printer firmware), not a support engineer. I will gladly answer people's questions as I have time, but if you don't get an immediate answer all the time that is sometimes due to the fact that I have other work to do :-). I am mostly helpful in dealing with problems of a highly technical nature that our regular support people do not fully understand. One good example is some mail I have had recently concerning Tops to DeskWriter connectivity from MS-DOS PCs or SUN workstations (our support people haven't a clue). If you go through normal support channels and can't get your questions answered or problems solved, then contact me and I will try to help as much as I can. Unfortunately our support people are not on the net. Dave Neff neff@hpvcfs1.HP.COM
