Don't forget, the audio player doesn't have to do oodles of random access seeks
constantly: How many times do you play 2 seconds of a song and then play 2 seconds
of the next song, and .5 secs of the next, and .25 secs of the first, and ...?

The hardware requirements for CD-ROM players are said to be MUCH more stringent
then for audio players.
