I was told yesterday Feb. 4 that they would start shipping (or call for pickup if you rather) this week. The slowdown comes from them having to build the operating system on the opticals and hard drives. They are rebuilding the software because these machines were used for demo and training and they want the software like it was from NeXT, this means rebuilding the OS for every machine. > >I was told he has 30 or 40 of each of several configurations. >Here are the quotes I got: > > $2395 - 030 cube, 8MB, keyboard, mouse, monitor, OD, 1.0, etc. >+$ 400 - 40 HD >+$1500 - 330 HD >+$2000 - 660 HD > > $1200 - printer ($1300 was quoted earlier in this thread) This is correct. > >The 2395 seems like a great deal. >Has anyone gotten better quotes on the other items? I'm a student at San Jose State and can get educational prices but this is a better deal. For another $900 I get the '040 upgrade, $1200 for a ~300Mb hard drive, ~$450 for a floppy drive, $180 for v2.0 Total $2395, $1200, $900, $180, $450 = $5125 I can't get a NeXTstation high capacity for that let alone a NeXTcube. Don't even think about the optical. The price for a NeXTcube high capacity w/OD is $7123 through special promo. The price for a NeXTstation high capacity w/external OD is $7167 no special promo. No expansion capability. > >My quotes had the HDs bundled. >I didn't ask if they sold them seperately. > >They are not on the internet, but you can get there from here: >Norm Gilbert <73307.555@CompuServe.COM> >He answered from CompuServe so that may be preferred. > >(408) 874-2623 - best place to leave a message. This number is direct to Norm. If you get lucky you won't need to leave a message, but he is quite busy. >(408) 437-4454 - Fax > >Allow a couple days for a reply. Its a FIFO queue. I am, according to Norm the #15 order for a cube. I was told that they hope to get 12 machines a week out the door. This means I should get my machine by the middle of next week. 8*) ---- We'll see about this one. I'll believe it when it happens. I'll let everyone know when I get it. Anyone want to buy a new NeXT at close to a sudent discount price. Boy, have I got a deal for you. >8*) -- /* -The opinions expressed are my own, not my employers. */ /* For I can only express my own opinions. */ /* */ /* Kent L.
