But this wasn't the source of the whine. It's the ST1480. With the cover off, you can also hear it making a "grinding" noise. Oh dear. BTW, the disk doesn't appear to be a "production" version... but it doesn't say "sample" or anything else like that. It looks rather plain, actually. It *is* fast.
