Message-ID: Date: 26 Feb 91 20:25:09 GMT Sender: news@dftsrv.gsfc.nasa.gov Distribution: comp Lines: 25 Seems that under 2.0, I can no longer login over the network as root without entering the root passwd. I run bind on my machines and thus usually have a /.rhost entry such as this: kong.gsfc.nasa.gov This used to allow me to rsh from kong to my NeXT without being prompted for the password. Now I can't get over at all without the password. /etc/ttys is setup for secure network access so I doubt that's the problem. I have kong in /etc/hosts and /etc/hosts.equiv. Anybody had a similar problem or know a fix. I even tried my usual workaround for this problem, putting the raw internet address in /.rhosts, but to no avail. Thanx for any info.. -- Greg Vesper (vesper@kong.gsfc.nasa.gov) 301-286-5162 Goddard Space Flight Center; Greenbelt, Maryland "Two basic facts of life: 1) There is a God. 2) You're not him."
