Does anybody know how well it interpretes the Postscript file generated by PC and Mac desktop publishing software such as PageMaker, Ventura and Quark Express? Where can I get additional fonts for Newsprint? Can I load Adobe Type 1 fonts to Newsprint? Are there tools to convert Adobe Type 1 fonts to OpenFonts F3 format? We plan to use Newsprint not just for network printing. We already have a few PostScript printers (they are just slow). We are interested in using it to render PostScript files to bitmaps. I have tried to use the built-in PostScript interpreter from OpenWindows 2.0 to process some PostScript files. It works with files produced by Ventura and Microsoft Word but not with PageMaker. Also, the OpenWindows PS differs from Adobe PS in rendering sampled images. OpenWindows uses dithering while Adobe uses halftoning. Is Newsprint the same PS engine from OpenWindows ? (I hope not) How does Newsprint handle sampled images (dither/halftone) ? If it does both, can a user selects which method it uses? (sometimes I prefer dithering than halftoning) Maybe I should just simply ask: How compatible is Newsprint with Adobe PS? Facsimile Marketing, Inc.
