In my thesis I have two pages of photogra[hic plates that will be colour photocopied and interleaved in the text. I will leave space for them by an empty figure enviroment that will take up the whole page.

I want to put the captions for them on the previous page with something that looks like a footnote rule followed by next page: blah blah blah etc etc.

Now I could do this by \footnote but they are broken over pages. I need the caption to all be on the one page.

 Does any body have an idea on how to do this.
 If there is interest I'll summarize.
