I am going to summarize, but before I post I would like some more information from the people that replied. What is the size of you user base and how many simultaneous users do you intend to support? Our user base is 3000 user names (about 2000 actually active). (this has a major bearing on how appropriate disk quota solutions are for us) We intend to support 60 interactive users on ASCII terminals, with VERY good response time. We will also have 5 X terminals/work stations. Our load will be student and academic staff use of: Oracle or Ingress - up to 20 users at a time compilers COBOL, Pascal, FORTRAN SPSSX text editors mail LaTeX There will be some file serving (NFS) of staff PCs and Macs which can be expected to grow.
