It's actually Thompson's 1983 Turing Award Lecture, "Reflections on Trusting Trust" (Ritchie, co-winner, spoke about "Reflections on Software Research"), and it's reprinted in "ACM Turing Award Lectures, the first twenty years 1966-1985", ACM Press Anthology Series (Addison-Wesley, NY, ISBN 0-201-07794-9).
