Kucherawy) Distribution: ont Organization: Communications Division, Motorola Canada Ltd., Toronto Lines: 54 I just got a trailblazer for our MicroVAX II ("motto"), and I'm trying to switch from our Hayes-compatible 1200 baud modem to this modem. But I can't get my trailblazer to work. It will talk in all the baud rates I want it to if I hook up a terminal to it and try it... autobauding is fine. It also answers and connects properly when I dial manually, no matter what baud rate. The problem lies in getting our uVAX to talk to it properly. We're running Ultrix V2.0-1, and it's coming off a port that is was configured at 1200 baud, and is now configured for 9600 baud. Excerpts from pertinent files: /etc/ttys: ttyd0 "/etc/getty D9600" dialup on modem shared /etc/acucap: #Telebit Trailblazer 19200 baud modem. # (touch tone dialing) # telebit|trailblazer|tbit|Telebit Trailblazer (autobauding):\ :cr:db:hu:ls:ss=AAATZ\r\d:sr=OK:sd#250000:di=A\dA\dATS50=0DT:dt=\r:\ :dd#100000:fd#120:rs=,:os=CONNECT:ds=\r\d+++\dATZ\r:ab=\r\d+++\dATZ\r: tfast|telebit-fast|tbit-fast|Telebit Trailblazer FAST MODE:\ :cr:db:hu:ls:ss=AAATZ\r\d:sr=OK:sd#250000:di=A\dA\dATS50=255DT:dt=\r:\ :dd#100000:fd#120:rs=,:os=FAST:ds=\r\d+++\dATZ\r:ab=\r\d+++\dATZ\r: /usr/lib/uucp/L-devices: ACU ttyd0 ttyd0 1200 telebit ACU ttyd0 ttyd0 2400 telebit ACU ttyd0 ttyd0 9600 tfast ACU ttyd0 ttyd0 19200 tfast The modem port on motto seems to drop DTR every so often, and that (I think) is a big part of what's causing the problem. After making changes to /etc/ttys, I sent a "kill -HUP" to init so it would restart the getty processes, but a protocol analyzer showed that the port was still talking at 1200 baud. I wonder if this is just a limitation of Ultrix... or if I need to reboot... I tried adding a null modem between motto and the trailblazer, but that just made things worse.
