I have an xmodmap command in my .xinitrc. All of a sudden I got the following messages @startup of X windows: xmodmap: please release the following keys within 2 seconds: F12 (keysym 0xffc9, keycode 10) F7 (keysym 0xffc4, keycode 23) F8 (keysym 0xffc5, keycode 24) KP_Decimal (keysym 0xffae, keycode 57) Multi_key (keysym 0xff20, keycode 74) backslash (keysym 0x5c, keycode 95) Insert (keysym 0xff63, keycode 101) Num_Lock (keysym 0xff7f, keycode 105) Caps_Lock (keysym 0xffe5, keycode 126) Meta_R (keysym 0xffe8, keycode 129) The message was repeated a number of times, each time doubling the number of seconds to 4,8,16,32. Finally I got the message: xmodmap: unable to set modifier mapping, keyboard problem I have never seen these messages before. I did lose bindings of some of the function keys. Does anyone know the possible cause of the problem??? Thanks in advance. PS: The environment is Sparcstatation 1+, SunOS 4.1, Sun's Openwin 2.0 -- ===== FOR SALOMON EYES ONLY ====== Victoria S.
