You must use the version of f2ps that comes with xfig 2.0.  It is distributed
with xfig.

lease tead the manual entry for fig2dev under the section that says
POSTSCRIPT OPTIONS:

     -P   indicates that the figure describes a full page which
          will not necessarily be inserted into a document, but
          can be sent directly to a PS printer.  This ensures
          that a showpage command is inserted at the end of the
          figure, and inhibits translation of the figure coordi-
          nate system.
