I thought a reminder to others would be helpful. Remember to use the gcc option -fpcc-struct-return when building nntpd with gcc. The ndbm routines return structures, so you need to tell gcc to use the common structure return mechanism. If you don't do this, I've found that the nntpd will appear to function normally, but accessing articles via Message-ID will not work. If you only use nntpd for news reading, and don't run a newsreader that can access articles by Message-ID, you might not even notice a problem. Other than this, 1.5.11 has worked great here.
