As for accompanying FM transmitters look at Motorola. They also have some dandy receiver chips. It might be worth checking out R/C chips (like those from National Semi - LM18??) and garage-door opener chips if you can find any. I suspect you may not find a single-chip solution for your transmitter plus modem.
