[stuff deleted] I've tested a Taxan 795 on an A540. The monitor is not capable of displaying the 'normal' screenmodes, modes 18, 19, 20, 21, 27, 28 and the new super VGA mode 31 will work ok. In modes 18, 19, 20 and 21 the right and left edges are not straight. The 24/36 MHz VIDC clock on the A540 is switched automatically to 36 MHz when needed (mode 31). If I knew a call to switch the clock from 24 to 36 MHz when the display is in the not working modes, perhaps the 795 will lock them succesfully. One more strange feature of the 795 is a thin black horizontal line about 2 inches from the bottom of the screen. Very annoying when you are in the desktop and know the line is there. I was told this is common with the sony trinitron tube. ferdinand.
