Here at CMU, some clusters have a StarController which has several branches of machines hanging off of it, and the StarController is connected to the backbone by a FastPath. One cluster, however, has about 5 or 6 Mac IIcx's with ethernet cards in each machine, and these machines are on an ethernet that is connected to the backbone in some manner; I forget exactly how.
