Message-ID: <91Feb28.142411est.2093@ois.db.toronto.edu> Organization: Department of Computer Science, University of Toronto Date: 28 Feb 91 19:24:27 GMT Lines: 18 I'm having trouble with my old (5 years) PC-36 controller. It seems that there is some kind of incompatibility between it and new 386 machines ... so they (Wangtek rep) told me I have to change it for a newer one (a 30850-008 for about $230), though some time ago somebody told me (sorry, I don't remember who) that a firmware update can solve that problem. This controller has worked fine on AT's and on a Wyse-386 (16Mz) but is refusing to work now on an Everex step 20. (It reads tapes but does not write them ok, some problem with the file-mark writing phase...) Anyone with such an experience ? Any cheaper QIC-36 controllers out there ? -- Carlos G.
