Message-ID: <4537@eastapps.East.Sun.COM> Date: 27 Feb 91 14:01:03 GMT Sender: news@East.Sun.COM Reply-To: bdowning@otc.UUCP () Followup-To: comp.sys.ibm.pc Organization: Sun Microsystems, Billerica MA Lines: 16 Recently bought a used 286-class machine and tried to install Fastback Plus on its hard disk (Fastback is a hard disk backup utility). When the installation program tested the system for minimum DMA speed, however, I got a message saying that DMA testing failed and installation was not possible. The system has a 5.25" low density A drive, a 5.25" high density B drive, and a 20 Mb hard C drive, 1 Mb of RAM, AND a virtual disk installed as drive D. Could the virtual disk (VDISK.SYS) be causing the problem? Or any other theories? ******************************************************************************* Bill Downing Temporarily insane at: Sun Microsystems DOWNING ASSOCIATES, INC.
