Message-ID: <7500005@hpnmdla.HP.COM> Date: 25 Feb 91 09:00:36 GMT Article-I.D.: hpnmdla.7500005 Organization: HP Network Measurements Div, Santa Rosa, CA Lines: 17 I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times already, but what is the rough lifetime of a Syquest removable disk? I've heard that the lifetime of a Bernoulli disk is about 6-12 months with heavy usage (are Syquest disks like floppies, like the Bernoulli, or is it a hard platter?). I'm looking for a backup solution, and I'm trying to decide between a Syquest disk or a tape drive. Using a tape drive would be much cheaper, but the Syquest has the advantage of being a disk drive. I'm wondering if the media used by Syquest has a fixed lifetime. Any help will be greatly appreciated. -- Darryl Okahata UUCP: {ucbvax!{hplabs, hpcea}!hpnmd!darrylo Internet: darrylo%hpnmd@relay.hp.com
