The IBM's archive format apparently is significantly different from
standard UNIX ar's - at least, the header files are very different
from those on a SUN4.

GNU make needs to know the archive format for library dependencies.

Before I reinvent the wheel (sigh), has anyone already ported GNU make
to the IBM RS 6000?
