  false alarm.  i actually tried this a month ago.  after sending this
  note, i cruised into /usr/adm/cron, zeroed at.deny (because it had
  three blank lines in it), and tried again.  now "at" runs with the
  proper ownership.  dunno if it was the zeroing of at.deny or something
  else in the last month that fixed it...
