  We were one of the fist sites to get a ds5000 last year, and our
  software was written to run under Ultrix 3.1.  But we had to use a
  beta version of Ultrix 4.0 for a trade show because the 5000 won't
  run older versions of Ultrix.  There were many hardware changes 
  made for the 5000 that Ultrix 3.1 doesn't know about.  New hardware
  usually needs new software.
