I'm sorry, but garbo.uwasa.fi *is* one of the most popular ftp sites in Europe. The weekly download list is something like the euro charts -- eg. it shows you, what programs are popular (and maybe a good choice to look at). Even, if you are not located in Europe and/or ftp from other sites, it nevertheless will give you a hint what's current state of art. [By the way, nobody forces you to read the messages. You should be able to selectively KILL message with a given topic, shouldn't you?] Just defending...
