Well, I was at school today and decided to do some research on the topic. I looked in the "Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature", Volume 49, 1989, and found the following reference: | "Making a Telephone Ring [theater special effect]" K. Ruling il | _Theatre_Crafts_ 23:92+ Ap'89 Which means that in _Theatre_Crafts_ magazine, April '89, on page 92, there is an article by K. Ruling. And it includes illustrations, too! My school library doesn't subscribe to _Theatre_Crafts_, so I couldn't look up the article. Sean E.
